When we last wrote, SuloBase 0.9 had just come out. This month the news is mostly about trust: our registration under the Data Protection Act has come through, and the rest of the paperwork is in place. Here’s what that means for you, plus Connect AI on video and one thing coming at launch.

01 · Registered

Certificate DPC-DP000897

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner has registered Sulocorp Technologies, the company behind SuloBase, as a data controller and data processor under section 19 of the Data Protection Act. The certificate runs to 31 March 2027.

For the people who sign up with us, we are the controller. For the apps you build on SuloBase, we are your processor: we hold your users’ data on your instructions, on our server in Lusaka.

02 · What it means for you

Your app needs its own registration

Our registration covers SuloBase, not the businesses that build on it. If your app handles personal data about people in Zambia, your business must register as a controller too, before it processes that data.

We’ll give you the hosting and security facts the form asks for. Our Data Protection Act page lists what SuloBase covers, section by section, and what stays with you.

Connect AI, step by step

We recorded how to connect Claude Code to a SuloBase project, start to finish: create a token, run one command, and ask your assistant what’s in your database. It reads your tables and how they relate, so no more pasting your schema into a chat.

In part two, the assistant builds a test table, cleans it up again, and works through the security advisor without breaking anything. Both videos are on our Facebook page.

04 · Coming at launch

An agency programme

If you build apps for clients, our agency programme opens at launch. An agency account earns 10% of each client’s plan, every month the client stays: K15 a month for a Pro client, K50 for a Business client.

What’s next

Next, SuloBase moves onto its production server in a Zambian data centre. Once it’s there, we’ll release 1.0 and open SuloBase to everyone, and you’ll hear about it here first.
